Miryam Haddad, a young Syrian artist, creates paintings with a style of coming back and forth between figurative and abstract, within which vivid colors and dark tones with anxiety are juxtaposed with tense on her canvases.

Titled La Vengeance, which means “revenge” and larger than 2m, this work depicts a huge flame in the center which seemingly burns up all the surroundings including the nature and geometric patterns that remind us of digital images. As she herself describes it as “violent,” the painting illustrates some sort of contradiction in a tremendously energetic way.

She is an emerging painter who is gaining international recognition. In 2019, she won Prix Jean-François Prat Prize, a gateway to success for painters, and also participated in a group exhibition at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain.
